Mandina"s Restauratn on Canal Street is a streetcar (marked Cemetairies) ride away from the French Quarter. This was my parents favorite spot and we always went by streetcar.. It is a neighborhood hangout where you can stand at the bar while waiting for your table. In 2005 it suffered extnsive damage from the citywide flood caused by Hurricane Katrina. We were not sure it would ever recover.
Since then, it has reopened and returned to a Tourist and Locals destination. It is my favorite place to meet and visit with a few old friends and classmates from Jesuit High every time I visit New Orleans
